Today is the day!

That’s right today is the day. What day you may ask? The day I start back on the fight against hypertension aka high blood pressure. Today is the first day back to my exercising routine, dash diet, and taking control.

You may be asking what makes this first day different than any of the other first mentioned on this blog? Well for starters, I have more than just the support of a friend or two, but a whole host of family members, friends, and hopefully you. Yes you,; why not you. We are all in this together. Statistics show there is a direct correlation between people who workout and have a work out partner . There is power in numbers and I hope to gain work out partners, supporters, and even connect with individuals who I may not know in order to encourage, inspire, and learn together. The other factor in all of this is a matter of control. I feel more in control of my life, health, and body. I have incorporated several tools in this process that I feel will also aid me in keeping my goal. The goal to live a healthier lifestyle for life!

One of the tools I am using on this journey is the DASH diet. Do not be confused by the name DASH diet. I am not dieting, in the traditional sense of the word, but changing my eating habits for life. Here is my menu so far today:

breakfast:

8 oz of orange juice
¼ cup of bananas
¼ cup of strawberries
½ whole wheat bagel thin
6 oz cup of french vanilla yogurt
1 tsp pineapple cream cheese
8 oz of water with 2 tsp of apple cider vinegar

lunch:
turkey sandwich
Tomato
Lettuce
10 baby carrots
Apple sauce banana
16 oz of water

snack:
handful of almonds
